Not Since Moses 10km Race - Five Islands, Nova Scotia

Splash, splash, splash. I could feel the breeze around me. Huffing and puffing of other runners. Slosh, slosh, slosh. Laughter. Conversations. Introductions. Reunions of long-ago friendships. Encouraging words. Philosophical conversations (how do they have enough breath for that?!). Cheers from volunteers and runners alike. Marvels of joy over the beauty that surrounds us. A sea of water to my left. Between me and it is an expanse of soggy and rippled sand, scattered with puddles, mussels, seashells, seaweed and slippery rock. On the other side I see intricate red-rock cliffs topped with vibrant green trees and blowing grass. Its a perfect day: warm and sunny, slightly humid, with a light cloud cover. Stretching out in front of me and coming up behind me is a stream of people. Sloshing, splashing, and laughing their way towards the finish line. Although we are running, we aren't in  huge hurry to get there - we are distracted by the gloriousness of this place and this experience. It was a 10 kilometer run of mud, water, diverse terrain, and absolute fabulousness! It is a run I won't soon forget and an event I will definitely repeat. Want to join me next year?

I didn't know how much water to anticipate on the run so I took a disposable water-proof camera with me....that was a big mistake! I should have just taken my regular camera in a ziplock bag. Oh well, live and learn. Here are a few extremely blurry photos from the day. The last few that are clearer are taken on my normal camera on the drive home.

I ran with Debbie and Bethany - such great gals!

Showing our muscles!

The beautiful Bay of Fundy!

We HAD to make a stop at the Dutchman Cheese Farm - I've been dying to go there for months!

This is the gouda I buy every week at the market - I've tried all flavours I think - and all are yummy!

And a snap of some guinea fowl....just for Matthew;)
